El dissabte passat un grup de sis alumnes de les Escoles Garbí Pere Vergés de Badalona i Esplugues van retornar del seu viatge a Göksun (Turquia) on va tenir lloc la tercera reunió transnacional del projecte Erasmus+ Your Choice, Your Life. 
Allà es van retrobar amb els seus companys de Polònia, Romania i Turquia que també participen en aquest programa.
Van ser rebuts pels participants de l’escola turca i diverses autoritats de la ciutat. Durant la setmana, els alumnes van participar a diferents activitats relacionades amb les intel·ligències múltiples, en concret la kinestèsica. També van realitzar visites a ciutats i entorns naturals de la zona coneixent, així, part de la geografia turca. El fet de poder conviure el dia a dia amb les famílies, ha permès als nostres alumnes endinsar-se en les seves tradicions.
Al llarg de la setmana han anat descobrint una cultura desconeguda per a ells fins al moment, la qual els ha sobtat, sorprès, fascinat… tots ells coincideixen en què ha estat una experiència única, molt enriquidora i inoblidable.

El dissabte dia 22 de setembre, vam marxar a Xipre a viure l’experiència de formar part del projecte Erasmus+ “Tracing Our European Spirit” acompanyats de la Sra. Núria Sala i del Sr. Alberto Gómez. Concretament, hem passat una setmana a la ciutat de Limassol, al sud de l’illa de Xipre.

Els tres alumnes de l’escola que hem format part d’aquest projecte, ens hem allotjat a casa de nois locals i estem molt contents del tracte que hem rebut.

Durant tota la setmana hem estat realitzant activitats amb la resta de països que participen del projecte: Àustria, Polònia, Romania, Grècia i el país amfitrió, Xipre. L’objectiu era conèixer la història i els orígens de cada nació. Personalment, creiem que és molt important entendre d’on venim per saber cap on anem. Només d’aquesta manera podrem arribar a ser els homes i dones del demà que tothom espera.

Tot plegat ha resultat un aprenentatge bastant complet i enriquidor i cada dia que hem passat, ha estat una experiència molt valuosa que ens emportem tots tres. D’aquí ben poc, esperem poder mostrar-los la nostra escola i fer-los sentir com a casa.

During this second term, Alex, a 6th grade student from Calypso, developed a project based on rugby for the English subject.

The idea of the project came out from Alex’s interests. He is a huge fan of rugby and he practices this sport in his free time. Plus, one of the most important tournaments of rugby, the Six Nations, started in February so it was the perfect occasion to work on it.

Alex’s project involved different tasks in which he had to put in practice the different skills of the English language (listening, reading, writing and speaking). However, what all these tasks demanded was a huge creative and imaginative effort.

A Sports News TV programme, a sports article (which would be later used to narrate the highlights of a rugby match) and video tutorials for his classmates to learn some concepts about rugby where the main aspects that are included in the final product of his work.

Alex and his English teacher, Alberto Gómez, are more than glad to share this project with everyone at school and they really hope we all like it.

Durant aquest trimestre en les classes d’English de 6è d’Educació Primària hem treballat el projecte “Green Planet” per prendre consciència dels mals que pateix el nostre planeta, pensar en solucions i fer difusió de la necessitat de tenir-ne cura. Us volem mostrar el resultat final d’un dels vídeos promocionals, creat per les nostres alumnes Carlota , Mariona  i Elena de la classe Nautilus.

From 20th until 23rd November, Fundació Escoles Garbí has offically launched  the Erasmus KA219 Project with three-days meeting in Barcelona with Poland, Turkey and Romania.

This morning, our team has had an official ceremony  in the Town Hall of Esplugues de Llobregat to welcome the participants and encourage them for the well-being of the project.

All partner institutions came together to exchange project details and discuss its implementation.

This meeting was also a great occasion to get to know each other better and to organize the first call of applications that will be launched at the beginning of February in Barcelona.

This 3rd term, some of our Secondary Education and Baccalaureate students will be sitting the official Cambridge Examinations, which will take place at our school on Friday 5th May (speaking) and Saturday  6th May (writing, listening and reading). 

These examinations will allow our students to demonstrate their level of proficiency in English to the rest of the world, since Cambridge certifications are recognised by thousands of universities, governments and employers. 

Everyone has been working very hard throughout the whole course, and we are sure they will do a great job! Good luck!

Roald Dahl Day is celebrated all over the world on his birthday. But this school year, to mark the centenary of Dahl’s birth in Cardiff in 1916, there’s a whole range of activities around the world with the biggest and boldest taking place in our school next Thursday 16th February at 5.15pm with amazing characters of Dahl’ stories in the dinning room of the school.

Escola Garbí has taken part in the Annual Coordinators Meeting for Bilingual Learning in Madrid. The main aim of our session was to peer into our renowned progressive approach to education through English Language and the se of new devices in our FL Department enhancing an extraordinary impact in our primary and secondary students as well as for teachers, promoting mobile devices as a featuring high mobility, convenient network connectivity, and smart applications extendibility.

Our session has demonstrated that iPads and mobile phones are an ideal tool for creating an interactive, collaborative, and ubiquitous environment for learning a foreign language provided that the technological affordances of the device have been fully explored with the students in advance promoting an independent and cooperative language learning in- out of our school community in which English is used as a real vehicle of communication.
